In the first game of the Dr. Robert T. Stone Memorial Showcase held at Greenfield School in Wilson, NC the Knights defeated the Calvary Day School Cougars, a 2A school located in Winston Salem by a score of 1-0.
At the 30 minute mark of half number one, junior forward Gabriel Walker sent a beautiful assist over to senior center mid Dixon O'hair who proceeded to blast it in the right corner of goal for the only score of the game. The Knights were able to "up" the defensive pressure, smothering the Cougars attack in the second half after an inspired halftime talk from coach Josh Walker. Senior sweeper Eli Sigmon received the battle ball, a Hickory Christian tradition that recognizes the player exhibiting greatest effort. The senior sweeper disrupted the Cougars offensive attack throughout game.
